MY OPINION: The "Zero Tolerance Policy"

Some thoughts from a certified foster parent... (ME)

My heart goes out to those being separated from their parents. Even with those who are citizens, separation is not easy. We've dealt with a lot over the past year.

The "Zero Tolerance policy" is a ploy that is new. It is not something that we've had for years. In truth, it's a disheartening and cruel way to be a political bully. See the official government document from 4/6/2018 https://www.justice.gov/opa/press-release/file/1049751/download

Our country is based on immigration. Our forefathers were immigrants. They fought for freedom. They were brave and endured much for their beliefs. They illegally rose up against their government over matters that they thought were immoral. We call them brave.

As for the term "illegal". Wait.. what? That'd be like telling the slaves before the Civil War if they didn't want to be tortured and killed, "Do not escape for Freedom... That's illegal!"

Remember, the slaves weren't citizens either. Escaping was breaking the law. Even providing shelter to them was a criminal offence. Known as "underground railroad", brave Americans fought against the "immoral" acts of our government at that time by braking the law.

In my view, Christians should be more behind helping to seek family unity. Not separation.

Jesus wasn't separated from his family (Joseph & Mary) when they left for Egypt. BTW, they were running from the law.

(Matthew 25:45-46)
