In The News:

- National Fried Chicken Day. In the United States, July 6th chicken lovers across the country recognize National Fried Chicken Day by feasting at a nearby restaurant, home, or an outdoor picnic. Scottish immigrants brought their tradition of deep-frying chicken in fat to the southern United States. After its introduction to the American South, fried chicken soon became a staple. Over time, cooks added seasonings and spices to enrich the flavor of the chicken.

- Seinfeld and Home Alone LEGO sets. IF you think you’ve out grown playing with toy bricks… you may want to re-think that your stance. Two of the most iconic pieces of 90s pop culture will soon be making their way into the world of LEGO. Thanks in part to a fan submission initiative called LEGO Ideas, the company announced they are beginning production on a LEGO set that will allow fans to build replicas of the McAllister’s house from Home Alone and Jerry’s Manhattan apartment from Seinfeld. LEGO Ideas is a program that allows people to submit their own original LEGO designs, which are then voted on by the public. The designs gaining over 10,000 votes are then formally considered by the company for approval. The sets should be available for purchase at a later date. http://www.cincyweekend.com/seinfeld-and-home-alone-lego-sets-officially-announced/

- Thief describes himself. In Norway, a man robbed a gas station a knife-point in a ninja outfit. He only got a few dollars before escaping on a bicycle. Upset that he hadn’t gotten more, he decided to volunteer as a witness and ask for a reward for identifying the thief. He went to the police station and reported, “I saw a man run into the station. He had a ninja-like hood, was carrying a knife and had a sword sticking up from the back of his trousers.” As he was giving an officer his name and phone number, another customer from the gas station recognized the thief and pointed him out to the police.

- Fun Fact: One in three people say their PETS have put on pounds while HUMANS have been under lockdown.

- National Hand Roll Day with the freshest flavor and style! The day encourages us to explore our senses by experiencing one of sushi’s culinary pleasures. Japanese sushi hand rolls delight the senses with vibrant color, taste, and texture. Since every delicate hand roll is masterfully designed, the chef presents each one as a work of art.

- Pets gain pounds. Humans aren’t the only ones struggling to get their summer bodies back after gaining the notorious “Quarantine 15” during lockdown. According to a new survey conducted by Wakefield Research for Banfield Pet Hospital, about 33 percent of pets have beefed up since the coronavirus hit in March. “People are home all day with their pet on their laps like, ‘Oh, you’re so cute. You deserve a treat,’ ” says Dr. Ann Hohenhaus, a veterinarian at New York City’s Animal Medical Center. “These fun food treats that they love are in the rank of burritos and ice cream for us humans — and can pack on the pounds really quickly.” Now, some cat and dog owners are putting their four-legged pals on strict diet plans.

- Exploring Close to Home. A new study suggests that exploring your neighborhood can be just as rewarding as traveling abroad. Since international travel is on hold due to the pandemic more people have been taking to bikes and walking around their neighborhoods to explore. "What appeared to be most critical to a positive mood was simply going to a diverse set of locations, not the distance one traveled on a given day," Catherine Hartley, a professor of psychology at New York University and a co-author of the study, told Lonely Planet. Hartley says that with unique daily experiences that add variety to our lives, it makes up happier and our mood better. Whether you take a different route on your walk or adding variety to what you read or watch, the benefits of exposing yourself to new sights, sounds, and experiences can be very rewarding.

- Musing: I find if you sprinkle some bacon bits on a salad, but don’t actually add any salad, then its a pretty good salad... #musing
