- National Anthem Day commemorates the day the United States adopted “The Star Spangled Banner” as its National Anthem. Nearly 117 years passed after Key penned “Defence of Fort M’Henry” before it became the national anthem of the United States of America. The United States didn’t have an officially declared anthem until a congressional resolution, signed by President Herbert Hoover, until “The Star Spangled Banner” became the national anthem of the United States of America on March 3rd, 1931.
- Hand washing is important, particularly during flu and Covid-19 season, but a simple splashing of hot, soapy water is not the move. There is, in fact, a correct way to wash one’s hands, and it involves singing (or humming). In a clip on Twitter, a group of men wearing face masks can be seen saying hello to each other by quickly tapping their feet together. The first man is shown waving off a handshake invitation and offers his foot instead. He is then greeted by a foot tap instead.
- Vigil for Taco Bell. Penn State University students and community members gathered at the site of a shuttered Taco Bell for a vigil mourning the loss of the fast food restaurant. The Taco Bell location on E. College Avenue in State College unexpectedly closed its doors permanently last week, leading Penn State student Prajesh Patel to organize the Sunday night vigil. The vigil, which was advertised on Facebook, brought out dozens of attendees, including former employees.

Interestingly, when the couple first married almost a decade earlier the husband was obsessively clean, taking showers three times a day and washing his hand every few minutes.
