In The News:

- National Peanut Butter and Jelly Day celebrates a classic food favorite. The average American will have eaten over 2000 peanut butter and jelly sandwiches by the time they graduate from high school.

- Minecraft Easter Egg Hunt. Amid coronavirus stay-at-home orders, churches have done virtual services, prayer meet-ups, and Bible studies. Now, with Easter approaching, a Texas church announced it is doing a virtual Easter egg hunt. Tate Springs Baptist Church in Arlington hopes to engage its elementary students by designing a virtual Easter egg hunt on the popular video game Minecraft, something they started using Monday to do weekly children’s Bible studies.

- Wimbledon cancelled. For the first time since World War II, the Wimbledon tennis tournament has been cancelled. Originally scheduled to begin June 29, this is the first time that Wimbledon won’t be played during peacetime since it began in 1877.

- Man Backyard Marathon. Being stuck at home didn’t stop a British man from running an outdoor marathon. James Campbell spent his 32nd birthday on Wednesday doing 20-foot shuttles from one end of his small backyard to the other after promising to run a marathon if one of his Twitter messages received 10,000 retweets. By the time Campbell completed the marathon in just over five hours, he had raised more than $22,000 for Britain’s National Health Service to help battle the coronavirus pandemic… He calculated he would have to traverse his yard at least 7,000 times to reach 26.2 miles.

- World Autism Awareness Day (WAAD), on April 2nd each year shines a bright light on a growing global health crisis.

According to the National Autism Association, Autism affects 1 in 59 children. The bio-neurological developmental disability usually presents itself by the age of three, and it’s more prevalent in boys than girls.

- Costco, one of the world’s largest retailers, is cutting ties with the contracting company that handled its in-store samples because of decreased foot traffic due to the coronavirus outbreak.

- Fed-Ex hires. FedEx is hiring about 5,500 workers in various cities across the country to help manage the influx of online deliveries as more people are stuck at home… Dozens of other companies want new employees, also. Walmart wants 150,000 workers. Target 9,000. 7-Eleven 20,000. Microsoft 4,000.

- National Burrito Day on the first Thursday in April celebrates the tasty and versatile Mexican dish wrapped in a tortilla.

- Chipotle giving away burritos. Many restaurants are continuing to serve customers with takeout and delivery options, and to show appreciation for members in their communities, a lot of companies are also giving out free food to medical professionals and other essential workers. Chipotle is the latest… Chipotle is giving away 100,000 free burritos to healthcare workers in honor of National Burrito Day today (April 2).

- Clean up Burglar. In Finland a woman’s apartment was cleaned out — and cleaned up by a burglar. The woman returned home after being away for a week and discovered her TV, laptop and other items missing. The burglar had also helped himself to food and booze. But this was not a thoughtless thief. Police said the rear sliding glass door, which the woman had left open, was closed and locked when she returned. In addition, clothes and dishes had been washed and dried.
