Additionally, White Water opens June 15 & 16 for season pass holders, and June 17 for all guests. Showboat Branson Belle will open June 20. Both of these have similar guidelines for guests as SDC.

- Pet Ownership is beneficial. Studies have shown that pets can provide stress relief to humans and according to a recent survey, that proves to be true amid the coronavirus pandemic. According to a survey (Vancouver, Washington’s Banfield Pet Hospital) 45 percent of pet owners say their household’s happiness has increased while spending more time with their pets during self-isolation. The survey showed 39 percent of pet owners said their four-legged pal helped lower the anxiety and uncertainty felt amid the pandemic.

- Astronauts Successful! American astronauts Bob Behnke and Doug Hurley entered the International Space Station Sunday after a 19-hour journey from the Kennedy Space Center. The mission, run jointly by SpaceX and NASA, was the first crewed space flight launched from U.S. soil since 2011 and the first ever orchestrated by a private company. The Crew Dragon arrived at the station a few minutes early, and Hurley and Behnken conducted a series of pressure and leak checks to ensure their safety before they opened the hatch and came aboard the space station, where they’ll remain for a still undetermined amount of months.

- On June 1st each year, National Nail Polish Day primes us with every shade under the sun. Sandals and beaches mean manicures and pedicures, too

- Krispy Kreme. We could all use something free and sweet right now. Krispy Kreme is celebrating National Doughnut Week by giving away free doughnuts all week. From June 1st through June 5th, just stop into a Krispy Kreme location to pick up your free snack. You can do it every day through Friday.

- Armed asparagus pickers. Police in a rural part of Germany said a man called them to report having seen “10 to 15 people armed with knives and sticks” on a local road. Within minutes, police cars were on their way to the scene. Officers quickly discovered, however, that the group was asparagus harvesters walking along the road with their work tools as they went to take a lunch break.

- Lemon juice record. An Idaho man drank a liter of lemon juice through a straw in under 17 seconds for a Guinness World Record. David Rush, who has broken more than 100 Guinness records to promote STEM education, emptied the glass in 16.53 seconds.

- National Go Barefoot Day on June 1st gives us an opportunity to kick off our shoes and run barefoot through the cool grass! More importantly, it is a day to help support a charity that provides millions of underprivileged children all around the world with shoes.

- Afraid of snakes. A study (Ohio State University) found that boys are more afraid of snakes, monsters, and scary amusement park rides than girls, while girls are more afraid of thunderstorms and the dark.

- How to (not) quit a job. A guy in China was detained for making a false police report as part of an elaborate excuse to quit his job. The man said in the false police report that he was a drug dealer operating out of his workplace so that he would be arrested. Police later learned the man made up the story so he could get out of the job because he hated it.
