In The News:


- Covid-alerts on Google Maps. Google Maps will soon provide coronavirus alerts for travelers driving or taking public transportation, identifying possible crowded locations, medical facilities and testing centers.

- Outdoor air. The more outdoor air is pumped into office ventilation systems, the lower the inside levels of viruses. Researchers (Harvard School of Public Health) sampled the workday air from three office buildings and used molecular techniques to detect and identify rhinoviruses in air samples and in nasal mucus from building occupants. There was a significant relationship between the detection of airborne rhinoviruses and the amount of stale indoor air.

- Worlds of Fun. It's that summer notification everyone has been waiting for -- Worlds of Fun has set a date for reopening after delaying the season due to the coronavirus pandemic. Park officials announced Tuesday morning that Worlds of Fun will open to season pass holders on June 22. Daily tickets will begin in July. The park will start with limited capacity, and reservations will be required to attend. Anyone visiting or working in the park will also be required to wear masks while inside the park.

- National Donald Duck Day on June 9th each year commemorates the birthday of a funny animated cartoon character. Donald Duck made his first screen debut on June 9, 1934, in The Wise Little Hen.

- Amazon Worker loses engagement ring. A worker at an Amazon warehouse in Wales is asking customers to check their packages for the engagement ring that fell off her finger at work. 18-year-old Jasmine Paget said she and her fiance, fellow Amazon worker Josh Phillips, searched the warehouse after the ring fell off her finger while she was packing boxes Saturday. Paget said the warehouse manager temporarily stopped work on the floor to search the warehouse and trucks, but employees were unable to locate the ring.

- Speeder drying his car. Police in Holland confiscated the car and driver’s license of a man caught speeding who said he was just trying to dry his car after he had washed it.

- National Strawberry Rhubarb Pie Day recognizes a delicious and seasonal pie. A tart vegetable, rhubarb is often paired with sweet fruits making for a pleasing dessert.

- 1790: Philadelphia Spelling Book by John Barry became the first book to be copyrighted in the United States.
