  • WHAT TO DO IF YOU HAVE A SEARS GIFT CARD _ Use it now. The stores, including Kmart and Shop Your Way, are still around, but you’ll want to use your gift cards as soon as possible. 46 Sears and Kmart stores will close by November, and 142 more will close by the end of the year, and it’s possible the retailer’s doors will close for good. USA Today reports that “liquidation sales at the additional stores are expected to begin within two weeks.” If Sears closes its doors for good, a bankruptcy court will decide whether or not the gift cards need to be honored.
