  • On this day in 2001: Windows XP was released.
  • Turkeys DO fly! Jess Downing was riding her red 2011 Kawasaki motorcycle on the way to her masonry job in Chester, New Hampshire, the other day when a turkey perched on a stone wall in a field decided to take flight. Downing had no time to react when the big bird took off and flew into her, knocking her off the bike. Downing broke her right hand and suffered some scrapes on her right leg. She was wearing a helmet, gloves, jeans and a sweatshirt. While Downing is recovering from her injuries, the turkey wasn’t so lucky. It was killed by the impact. Downing got to keep the turkey.
  • A man who was house-sitting for his parents in California set the home on fire after he used a blowtorch to kill spiders. The man who was trying to kill black widow spiders made it out of the home safely. No one else was home at the time.
  • Food researchers say ice cream tastes better when licked from a cone than eaten from a spoon.
