In The News:
- DAYLIGHT SAVING TIME CHANGE MAY TRIGGER HEADACHES _ We all like the extra hour of sleep that comes along with Daylight Saving Time, but for some people, the time change causes real headaches. Doctors say ‘cluster’ headaches typically start a few days after the Daylight Saving Time change and can last anywhere from six weeks to three months. Experts think the phenomenon, which is more likely to occur in men than women, is caused by circadian rhythms in the brain. [I just get a headache just thinking about it!]
- Research (University of California San Diego) found that people look more attractive in a group than they do individually. When confronted by a group of people, your visual system creates “ensemble representations” that blend their features. We’re instinctively drawn to “average” faces, possibly because — in evolutionary terms –– they indicate that a potential mate is not a horrifying mutant who crawled out of our nightmares.
- If you’re about to hop on a treadmill, throw in the ear buds and turn up your favorite tunes. It turns out that exercising while listening to music adds 19 minutes to the average workout. That’s 58 minutes with music compared to 39 minutes without.
- There’s a reason why the holidays are the most wonderful time of the year — and the most fattening. Target is carrying Sugar Cookie Milk. The beverage could be served served alone or as an addition to a cup of hot chocolate or coffee… If sugar cookies aren’t your thing, Target is also introducing two additional new flavors of milk: Maple Pecan and Chocolate Mint.
- Four in 10 people started their holiday shopping on November 1.
