A new study (McMaster University) shows as little as 20 seconds of brisk stair climbing, done several times a day, might be enough exercise to improve fitness. The study finds that people can complete a meaningful series of insta-workouts without leaving their office building or even changing out of their dress shoes, offering hope — and eliminating excuses — for those of us convinced that we have inadequate time, expertise, income or footwear to exercise.
A new study shows a regular serving of fried chicken is associated with a higher risk of death. The study, which looked at the food habits of 107,000 women, found those who enjoyed fried chicken once or more per day had a 13% higher risk of death compared with women who did not eat any fried food.
New research confirms what many have suspected for years: Having more information about food can help people make smarter food purchases. According to a survey, 69 percent of people look at nutritional facts to get food information and 67 percent get information from the ingredient list.
Liars take longer to tell their story. Research shows it takes on average 30% longer to tell a fib than to be honest.
If you’re caught throwing your speeding ticket out your car window, it could cost you big bucks for littering — according to the Manitoba, Canada, police. On Tuesday they showed dash cam video of a female driver crumpling up her speeding ticket and throwing it out her window — all in front of the officer who issued it. The driver was dinged for $174 for the littering, plus the fine for speeding.
