We know we should be careful with what we post on social media. Who knows who might be looking? It turns out, your insurance company might be. More and more often, insurance companies are checking in on customers’ social media when they file an insurance claim. And who can blame them when nearly $80 billion in fraudulent claims are filed in the U.S. each year.

Good luck giving candy conversation hearts this Valentine’s Day. The chalky, colorful candies previously made by Necco and emblazoned with messages like “Be Mine,” “Love” and “Call Me” aren’t feeling the love in 2019. In fact, popular brand Sweethearts will be missing from store shelves. If you’ve just found out you’re pregnant and are looking for a new way to do the gender reveal, pizza chain Villa Italian Kitchen has launched gender reveal lasagnas. For $140, you and your family can be entertained with a surprise announcement dictated by food-colored cheese in a layered meat casserole. The gender reveal lasagna also comes with a salad of your choice.

While social media is supposed to bring us closer together, that’s not always the case. In fact, a new study shows negative experiences online may bring about higher rates of loneliness among social media users. The study (University of Pittsburgh) show that every 10 percent increase in negative interactions on social media made the study participants 13 percent more likely to feel lonely.

A hospital administrator in China has apologized because an employee lost a computer memory stick containing the health information of as many as 6,000 patients. The good news is the employee who lost the memory stick made sure the data on the removable device had been encrypted for privacy. On the other hand, when he lost the device there was a sticky note attached to it with the encryption password written on it.

A man armed with a tree branch robbed a Portugal bank of just over $1,200. As the robber attempted to flee, he was grabbed and beaten up with his tree branch by other bank customers who held him until police arrived.

According to a new study published in Science Advances, at least 60 percent of the world's coffee species are at risk of extinction. Among the species at risk is the Arabica bean, which is the most popular coffee for commercial production. Both casual coffee drinkers and addicts shutter at the thought of higher-priced coffee and empty pots. Others say they'd be just fine if coffee disappeared; there are other ways to get a caffeine boost. What do you think?
