- Smartphones save lives! A smartphone in his pocket saved the life of guy in Australia when it stopped an arrow fired from a crossbow by a drug dealer who thought the man was a cop.
- Two scientists in Burlington County New Jersey found a rare two-headed rattlesnake in the Pine Barrens. The snake, named Double Dave, has two heads that are fully formed -- four eyes, two tongues, but just one body. The scientists are taking over his care. According to scientists, most double-headed snakes have a hard time surviving in the wild.
- LEGO has added the 75252 Imperial Star Destroyer from Star Wars: A New Hope to their Ultimate Collectors Series, and it's appropriately massive at 4,784 pieces (measures 17” high with stand, 43” long and 26” wide). Features include swiveling guns, a tilting radar dish, two Imperial minifigures, and an attachable / buildable scale version of the Rebels' Tantive IV. The massive LEGO set goes on sale for 699.99 in the retail market on October 1st.
- The induction of the Class of 2019 Southern Gospel Music Hall of Fame takes place on the Tuesday during NQC at 1pm. Ruben Bean, Ernie Phillips, Jackie Wilburn, & Gerald Wolfe.
- CDC warns people not to kiss chickens. The CDC has linked salmonella cases to families raising poultry in their backyards. There were 235 cases reported in the last month, bringing the total number of reported cases to 1,003 in 49 states, including 16 in Florida. Two-thirds of people who got sick reported contact with chicks or ducklings. A quarter of those infected are children. Poultry owners are advised to wash their hands thoroughly after handling birds, and not to “kiss backyard poultry or snuggle them and then touch your face or mouth.”
