- As the holiday shopping season gears up a new survey shows a quarter of American parents are still paying off debt from last year’s holiday season… American parents plan to spend an average of $558 on their child this year.

- Everybody’s working for the weekend, but what if the weekend was a little bit longer? A new survey (from YouGov) finds that most Americans would prefer a four-day workweek with longer hours, rather than the traditional five-day workweek.

… The poll of more than 36,000 Americans finds that 67 percent would prefer a four-day workweek with 10-hour days rather than the traditional five-day workweek with 8-hour days.

- Office ‘thermostat wars’ are framed as a battle of the sexes, with men preferring cooler temperatures and women preferring warmer climes. When it comes to the household, it appears that women feel like they are fighting a war on temperature. In a study, researchers report that women are more likely to report engaging in conflict over the temperature at home than at work.

- If you’re getting your recommended 7 to 8 hours of sleep each night but feel like you’re still not waking up rejuvenated, you’re not alone. A new study (Iowa State University) has found that we’re not just sleeping less, we’re sleeping worse. The study more specifically found that people are increasingly having trouble falling asleep and staying asleep throughout the night.

- For those looking to get their sugar fix filled first thing in the morning, Post Cereals and Hostess brands have just the thing: Twinkies Cereal. Set to hit store shelves nationwide next month, the new breakfast cereal “replicates the distinctive taste and familiar oblong shape of the golden-colored snack cake, delivering delightful sweetness in every bite.”

- If you were thought dead for 11 hours but then woke up, what would be your first request? A woman in Poland declared dead by her doctor came back to life complaining of the cold — and requested hot tea.

- A thief in France broke into a home and stole a computer, an iPad, and a TV. Shortly after the robbery the thief went back to the same house, but this time was caught. When he took the TV he forgot to take the remote control.

Bonus News (not mentioned on-air):A new survey finds almost 50 percent of people don’t change their underwear every day. The research — by underwear maker Tommy John — revealed that 45 percent have worn the same pair of briefs for two days or longer. Even worse, 13 percent of those surveyed admitted that they’d sported the same undies for seven days or more.
