- Daylight Saving Time ended Sunday, earning people that extra hour they lost in Spring. While this half of the the goofy and mostly pointless time shift might make most people happy, some say the clock shift cause us to spend more money. According to Time, when people set their clocks ahead in spring to provide more daylight at the end of the day, they’re more likely to go out at night to spend cash they wouldn’t otherwise be wasting.

- With Halloween behind us, its time now to get a head-start on thinking about your Christmas gift shopping — and whether to fork out for fancy wrapping in-store. A study has found the effort might not be worth it, as friends tend to like badly-wrapped presents more than those packaged to perfection. Beautifully wrapped presents, researchers claim, create high expectations that the gift inside can struggle to live up to.

- ‘Tis the season to clean gutters (fa la la la la, la la la la!). Whether it’s cleaning your gutters or hanging holiday decorations, you might have to climb a ladder to get the job done this fall. But be careful: Nearly 200,000 emergency-room visits and 300 deaths are linked to ladder accidents every year, and most people who fell didn’t have anybody holding the ladder below them. The typical accident victim is a 55-year-old man who falls nearly 10 feet.
