- The top industry group for U.S. airlines predicts that the Thanksgiving Day travel period will break records. A record 31.6 million passengers will travel on U.S. airlines globally over the upcoming period, according to Airlines for America. That total represents 3.7 percent more people from 2018 during the same travel period… Airlines for America says December 1 will be the busiest travel day ever for the airline industry, with 3.1 million people traveling that day.
- A third of Black Friday shoppers hide some purchases from their partner.
- Research shows that looking down to stare at your smartphone puts up to 60 pounds of stress on your neck.
- A 40-year-old elite runner, who is now eight months pregnant, finished the Shanghai Marathon on Monday, which is her third marathon during her current pregnancy. The pregnant woman, named Li Lili, finished the race in a plodding five hours, 17 minutes but has faced some criticism from people who suggested she’s endangering her baby’s health… According to research: “for those with uncomplicated pregnancies, experts say there’s no harm in maintaining your exercise routine; running won’t cause miscarriage or hurt the baby.”
- A poll has exposed the secret, selfish underbelly of electronics shopping on Black Friday weekend: It isn’t all about buying for friends and family. A lot of consumers plan to buy gear for themselves. Some 70 percent of those who planned to shop on Black Friday weekend said they would be looking for electronics. While 78 percent of those gear buyers will be gift shopping, 55 percent will be shopping for themselves.
- In England a team of crooks attempted to break into an ATM. It was their choice of tools that caused them trouble. Instead of using a hacksaw, or perhaps a sledgehammer, these guys used a blow torch to cut into the machine. It did the job, but it also caught the money on fire. They left empty-handed.
- Through research conducted by Ancestry.com, Tom Hanks was shocked to learn that he is sixth cousins with the late Fred Rogers. Access Hollywood surprised Hanks with the results at a New York City screening of the star’s upcoming film A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood, a drama in which Hanks steps into Rogers’ iconic sweater. When he heard the news Hanks responded, “It all just comes together, you see.”
