In The News:- Mickey Mouse Day & Princess Day

- On this day in 1928: Steamboat Willie, the first Mickey Mouse cartoon, premiered at the Colony Theatre in New York. (makes Mickey Mouse 91 today) It was the first animated cartoon to feature synchronized sound.

- On this day in 1963: The first phone with push buttons went into service in Pennsylvania.

- A new survey finds one in three Americans currently have a crack in their phone’s screen. And according to the poll, the average American drops their phone on the ground four times every week.

- A ten-second kiss spreads 80 million bacteria between mouths _ First base is a great place to get your mouth microbes some new friends. A study (Netherlands Organization for Applied Scientific Research) says a ten-second French kiss can spread 80 million bacteria between mouths. And researchers discovered that the bacteria on the tongues of couples was much more similar than the oral bacteria of two strangers. Researchers say that being with somebody for an extended amount of time and having a relationship leads to a similar collection of bacteria on the tongue.

- The NFL is considering a plan to expand the regular season from 16 to 17 games a season. That would mean not just one extra week, but two extra weeks during the season as NFL teams will get two bye weeks instead of one. The proposal includes Week 1 still beginning after Labor Day, and the Super Bowl concluding the final Sunday of February.
