- We use just a fifth of the apps on our smartphones. Despite having an average of 26 apps on mobile devices, adults admit to using just five every day… It’s not just apps ‘cluttering’ up smartphones: the average adult also has more than 550 pictures, videos or documents stored on their smartphone which should be trashed.

- BeeJay — who at 26 pounds weighs more than some bobcats — is up for adoption at a Philadelphia animal shelter, where workers on Thursday said his chunkiness is part of his charm. The Morris Animal Refuge tweeted: “Can you give him a home? Adopt this jumbo-sized package of fluff & love.”

- Pumpkins Spice is nice — for a few weeks. But according a survey (by Green Mountain Coffee Roaster) 41 percent of you would stand in line at the DMV once a month for the rest of your lives if it meant you’d get pumpkin spice year-round for life… Two in five would take a red-eye flight once a week just to have pumpkin spice coffee every day for life… One in three would name a kid Pumpkin Spice if it meant being able to have pumpkin spice coffee every day for life… Four out of five of us would sign a petition to make pumpkin spice available all year.

- If you want to be truly liked on social media, hold off on posting another selfie. That’s the message from researchers (University of Southern Mississippi) who concluded that Instagram users who post a lot of selfies are “almost uniformly” perceived as less likeable and more insecure, compared to Instagrammers who share posed photos taken by someone else.

- In the Netherlands two men were trying to break into a house when neighbors alerted the police. When officers arrived at the scene, a witness pointed them in the direction in which the pair rode away on bicycles. The suspects were soon chased down and arrested separately. One arresting officer was surprised to recognize his own bicycle. The other thief was found with his other bike. Apparently they happened to steal the bicycles from the officer’s back garden during their flight.
