In The News:
- On this day 2004: Internet search engine Google went public.

- Potato Day, Cupcake Day, Soft-Serve Ice Cream Day

- According to a new study from job search company Monster, 8 out of 10 people have cried at work. Why are so many darkened conference rooms being stained with the secret tears of a disconsolate workforce? Monster’s poll of 3,000 workers found that 45% of respondents who admitted to crying said it was because of their bosses or co-workers. Only 19% of respondents who had cried said that personal, non-work issues were the reason for the teardrops on their keyboards. Monster career expert Vicki Salemi said, “When you cry at work, that’s a sign of a toxic environment.”

- Hackers are able to work out your online passwords just from the sound of your keystrokes. In tests researchers were able to detect what was being typed with remarkable accuracy. It could be a major threat to people who use laptop computers in public places.… Security experts (Southern Methodist University in Texas) found that sound waves produced when we type on a computer keyboard can successfully be picked up by a smartphone.

- Striking out on Tinder? Time to step up that emoji game. According to a new study (published in the journal PLoS ONE) people that regularly use emojis with potential dating partners have much higher success rates getting dates.

- A South Dakota woman went to the hospital with what she thought were kidney stones. Nope… she was pregnant. With triplets. Dannette Giltz (of Sturgis) gave birth to the healthy triplets on August 10. Giltz says that despite having two other children, she did not know she was 34 weeks pregnant. The pain from the kidney stones she thought she had turned out to be labor pains. The triplets were born within four minutes. Each weighed about 4 pounds.

- According to a survey, workers are prepared to give away their passwords for a cheap pen. Ninety percent of office workers gave away their work computer password for the pen. Men were more likely to reveal their password (95%) than women (85%).

Fun Fact:Between 30 and 40 people call 911 each day (in the U.S.) for the weather forecast! #funfact

Bonus News (not mentioned on-air):No matter how sweet, adorable and loving children are, there is a universal truth to almost every kid on the planet: they are gross. A mom shared on Facebook about an incident involving her daughter, Blakely, and the grossest ice cream cone ever. The post features an image of mom Sidney holding a vanilla ice cream cone. Apparently, Blakely had asked her mom to hold the dripping cone for her. Obviously, like any human parent, Sidney took a lick to clean that puppy up. However, Sidney noticed her daughter is looking at her funny. When Sidney asked her what was wrong, and her daughter replied: “Is it okay? I accidentally wiped my butt with it.”… Naturally mom asked her daughter how she “accidentally” wiped her but with an ice cream cone. Daughter Blakely replied, “I used the wrong hand to wipe but it was just pee mommy.”
