In the study, some 70.6 percent of husbands were overweight or obese compared with 65.1 percent of all men. They don’t want it: they’re donating the cash — over $20,000 — to two local hospices.

Why did Mary and Joseph to go to Bethlehem?
A. For a Roman census
B. Jerusalem was too crowded
C. They were following a star
D. They were running away from Herod

In The News:
- Cyber Monday … Tomorrow is Giving Tuesday

- On this day in 1901: Gillette patented the first disposable razor.

- How did your thanksgiving desserts go? Ours was adventure! On Wednesday evening, my kids helped my wife Lydia make apple pies. All was going well. My two boys peeled and cut the apples while my daughter mixed and rolled the pie crust. Two problems presented itself. Half of our things are packed away since we’ve been trying to sell our house. That included the pie roller and pie pans! So I had the task of making a late night run to buy some foil pie pans. All ended well, with four beautiful apple pies for us to share with extended family.

- What is your traditions on thanksgiving? Besides watching the Macy’s Thanksgiving Parade, we spend the evening as a family playing… Monopoly! Of course, we have several themes in our position. So this year we played “bacon-opoply” with with each property based on Smokehouses. Bacon taco, Bacon floss, Bacon cheeseburger, turkey bacon… well, you get the idea. One of the cards I drew gave me a choice, I had to complete an activity, if my family was satisfied with my performance, I’d win $50. If I failed… I lost $50. Fair enough right. Um. I had to lay on the floor and imitate “sizzling bacon”. That’s right, pretty much act like a shocked worm. However, I’m more like a slug. Well, I did pass. By the way… my kids have cell phones… yikes….

- Did you get your Black Friday shopping done while you were waiting in line for coffee? You definitely weren’t the only one. Retain industry number show 39 percent of online Black Friday purchases were made with smartphones. That’s a big jump from last year, when just over 33 percent turned to the devices in their pockets. People were willing to splurge, too. Shoppers spent about $2.9 billion using their phones versus ‘just’ $2.1 billion a year earlier.

- An Arizona teen who tried to shimmy down her chimney in an attempt to sneak home after a late night out. However, she ended up getting stuck for more than 90 minutes. The teen decided the chimney would be the best entryway to her home after she and her friend got locked out and couldn’t find another way inside. But the plan soon backfired and the friend had to call 911.

- It turns out, high chairs are only meant for babies and toddlers. Firefighters were called to a Chick-fil-A in Idaho when a teenager got stuck in a high chair. She had apparently been dared by her friends to sit in the small seat… The young girl’s friends and restaurant workers attempted to help her out of the chair for 45 minutes before calling authorities.

- Three men wearing disguises went into a jewelry store in Burnsville, Minnesota, armed with sledgehammers, smashed the display cases, scooped up inventory, and made a quick getaway in a stolen van. They might have never been caught, except that one of the things stolen was a small electronic device — a GPS tracker. It led police directly to their hideout.

- As radio stations everywhere turn to an all-Christmas format, what song would listeners most like to jingle all the way to oblivion? In the UK a poll has singled out Mariah Carey’s All I Want for Christmas is You as the most annoying holiday song ever.

In The News:
- Cashew Day & Humane Society Day

- According to a survey, about 14% of Americans have turkey only on Thanksgiving. Almost 18% of us have it every month.

- We may say we hate Mondays, but research suggests Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays are equally despised. Researchers who looked at a poll of 340,000 people found moods were no worse on Mondays than other working days, except Friday.

- ‘Tis the season to find a mate. According to a survey, nearly one in four singles get on a plane over the holiday season hoping the person sitting in the next seat might be a future date or spouse.

- New research shows it takes less than four hours before we need a break from our extended family during the holidays. The survey of adults who are traveling to visit family for the holidays found we can spend an average of three hours and 54 minutes with family before needing a moment to ourselves… One in four of those surveyed have hidden in a relative’s house to take a moment alone, while 37 percent have gone so far as to make an excuse and leave the house altogether.

- A study from the University of Toronto claims more education gives people a sense of control but also more stress. First, they studied “mastery,” or how much control people feel they have over their life. They asked how much someone agrees or disagrees with statements like: “You have little control over the things that happen to you” or “You often feel helpless in dealing with problems of life.” University graduates had the highest level of mastery, which the researchers associate with higher earnings and lower exposure to financial strain, compared to non-graduates. Though graduates felt they had more control than people who hadn’t graduated college, they also felt more stressed. Study participants showed signs of being overworked, experiencing high job pressure and having a work-to-family conflict.

- A child’s never-ending “why’s” aren’t meant to exasperate parents. Rather, the kiddy queries are genuine attempts at getting at the truth, and tots respond better to some answers than others. This finding, based on a study involving children ages 2 to 5, also suggests they are much more active about their knowledge-gathering than previously thought.

- Police in Ontario are reminding the public to avoid dialing 911 to report non-emergency situations after a woman called to ask if she could get an “emergency ride service” to the train she was running late for.

Fun Fact:Four percent of Americans think there are too many of these, 15 percent think there are not enough. What? (Holidays) #funfact

- Thanksgiving is a one week away! A new study says the average Thanksgiving dinner only goes 64 percent as planned.

- Stuffing Day! Every year around November, the same old question resurfaces: what exactly is the difference between stuffing and dressing? And every year we believe it to be a simple answer: stuffing is what you call that delicious mix of bread that’s cooked inside the bird, and dressing is what you call it when you cook that same bread mixture outside of the bird… Unfortunately the answer is not as clear cut as that. It turns out we use different terms based on what region we live in, no matter what ingredients we use, or whether we stuff the bird or not.

- The FDA on Wednesday announced sad news for snackers nationwide: the recall of certain boxes of Nabisco’s popular cheddar Cheese Nips. MondelÄ“z Global said that if present, the yellow pieces would be from a dough scraper that’s used in their production process.

- Uber will apparently start recording audio during rides in the U.S., as part of the ride-hailing company’s recent safety push. The feature will let users opt in for trips and come with a warning that journeys can be recorded. The company will test the feature in Brazilian and Mexican cities in December, and it will share recordings with law enforcement upon request. Neither riders nor drivers will be able to listen to the recordings, and the audio will be encrypted for privacy purposes. After a trip, people will apparently get the chance to report a safety incident and send the recording to Uber customer support agents, who’ll assess the situation.

- The TSA is making its annual “please don’t make holiday travel more miserable than it already is” push, in which the agency begs travelers not to bring obviously prohibited items into checkpoints for at least the next few months. TSA officials try something like this every year, and it usually more or less completely fails. The problem isn’t with the airport security organization. The problem is that the kind of person who tries to bring chemical-soaked sparklers on board an airplane — really happened — isn’t the sort of person who reads TSA-related press releases.

- Researchers (Penn State) found that when asked to extend their sleep, college students who got an additional 43 minutes of sleep per night experienced less sleepiness during the day and were able to lower their blood pressure.
