- Wait, I thought Americans ate whatever they wanted? Anyway, a new survey of adults revealed that, if what we ate didn’t matter to our health, these are the foods we’d eat all the time:
1. Pizza
2. Fried chicken
3. Spaghetti and meatballs
4. Hamburger
5. Roasted chicken
- A California woman who was cleaning out her study found a library book her mother had checked out 74 years earlier. Berkeley Library workers said they were surprised Friday when Jean Durham brought in a copy of Sir Walter Scott’s Lady of the Lake that her mother had checked out in 1945. Library officials said there was no fine, as the facility did away with late fees in 2018.
- Elf on the Shelf. Some parents love it, others hate it. If your kid likes the Elf then they’ll probably be begging for Elf on the Shelf cereal. According to the packaging, the cereal is red and green, tastes like sugar cookies... and has marshmallows thrown in for good measure. The cereal is already out in Canada and will be out very soon in the U.S.
- Warm workers work better. A study (Cornell University) revealed that chilly workers not only make more errors but cooler temperatures could increase a worker’s hourly labor cost by 10 percent. When the office temperature in a month-long study increased from 68 to 77 degrees Fahrenheit, keyboard typing errors fell by 44 percent and typing output jumped 150 percent.
- A website… for Chores. Yes, a happy home requires that everyone pitches in. But some chores are harder or nastier than others. - When police in California caught a guy driving with an open bottle of vodka he decided that before they hauled him off to jail, he’d have one more drink. So as he sat in the front seat during the arrest process the man finished off the bottle. That last drink resulted in an additional charge of tampering with evidence.
- Police saved a man in China in a dramatic rescue. The man was about to jump from a bridge when a police officer grabbed his belt. The man asked the officer, “Why did you save me? I won’t live long with cancer anyway.” On the way to the hospital to be checked out, the attempted suicide jumper explained that he had diagnosed himself after a relative of his neighbor died from esophageal cancer a few days earlier and he felt he was showing the same symptoms. At the hospital he was diagnosed with a sore throat.
