In The News:
- Cat Day & Internet Day & Oatmeal Day
- Daylight Saving Time ends this weekend. Before you hit the sack Saturday night, move your clocks back one hour. And your local fire department wants you to remember to check your smoke detector batteries this weekend, too.
- Going by yourself? Going to a movie, dining out, and even grocery shopping are among the activities many adults wouldn’t dream of doing on their own. The study found shopping for new clothes and having a spa day are also things some of us don’t want to do alone.
- The world seems pretty negative these days, but at least we’re trying to keep things positive: 85 percent of Americans say they make a conscious effort to think positively each morning. Coffee helps. 50 percent of adults say we can’t start out positively unless we get some java in us first.
- Searching for parking is more painful than ever for U.S. drivers. Motorists spend an average of 17 hours a year searching for spots on streets, in lots, or in garages. The hunt adds up to an estimated $345 per driver in wasted time, fuel, and emissions.
- When it comes to boosting your mood, research suggests exercise is the gift that keeps on giving and giving. In fact, the feel-good feeling that a workout brings may last far beyond the hour or so that’s been previously assumed. Researchers (University of Vermont, Burlington) said moderate intensity aerobic exercise improves mood immediately and those improvements can last up to 12 hours.
- A driving lesson at an Iowa (West Des Moines) apartment complex ended with a car coming to a stop in water. Police said one person was teaching another person how to drive when the learner drove off the parking lot and into the pond. No one was hurt.
Fun Fact:Two in ten of us say we’re afraid of what animal? A Squirrel! #funfact
Bonus News (not mentioned on-air):In Nairobi, Kenya, a teenager found a treasure hunt prize worth thousands while relieving himself in a park. The teen was checking his aim when he found a small gold-colored box with a piece of paper inside that declared him to be the winner of the top prize in a local treasure hunt.
