- On this day in 1910: Duncan Black and Alonzo Decker opened a machine shop in downtown Baltimore, making milk bottle cap machines. Six years later they hit it big with the first portable electric drill.

- International Joke Day:
How many apples grow on a tree? All of them.

Why couldn’t the bicycle stand up by itself? It was two tired!

- On this day in 1963: ZIP Codes were introduced in the United States.

- Which state has the worst drivers? While many people think its the drivers in their own state — “just not me” — the truth is Mississippi has the worst … according to a study by financial website Smart Asset… To determine the rankings, Smart Asset took a number of factors into consideration, including the percentage of insured drivers, the number of DUI arrests per 1,000 drivers, the number of fatalities, and how often residents search for terms like “speeding ticket” on Google. Missouri made #10.

- Apple’s next watch could include a camera. The company isn’t expected to release a new version of its smartwatch until later this year and a built-in camera could be part of the hardware upgrade.

- Where’s Ronald when you need him? Police in Florida (Jensen Beach) are in search of a man they are calling a “modern day Hamburglar,” who is believed to have broken into Wendy’s, turned on the stove, cooked himself a burger and then stole the safe. Officials say the man then broke into another restaurant, where he did the same.

- A family in Germany living on the second floor of an apartment building couldn’t understand how a thief got into their home and stole jewelry and other valuables. When the family left on a short vacation, they’d deadbolted their door. But what they didn’t lock was their balcony door. And below the balcony was a trampoline, which the thief used to get up and gain entry to the apartment.
