- 1985: Coca-Cola, bowing to pressure from irate customers after the introduction of New Coke, said it would resume selling old-formula Coke.

- If you want your friends to eat healthier foods when you dine out, order first. After analyzing nearly 1,500 receipts from people who ate meals together, researchers (University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign) found that people gravitated toward similar meals when ordering in groups, even if they wouldn’t naturally choose those dishes. So, order first and pick the salad to influence the group.

- The Volkswagen Beetle has been saying goodbye for some time. Sales are down, and the company has produced 5,961 “final edition” versions of the car — the last of which will roll off its assembly line in Mexico today.

- Some vandals use crowbars or bricks to smash car windows, but a guy in Spain used a frozen steak. A laptop and other valuables were taken. The frozen steak was left behind on the car’s front seat.
