- In an experiment (by OKCupid) to test if love really is blind, researchers temporarily removed user’s photos from their dating profiles to see how it would affect their interactions. Unsurprisingly, the site’s traffic went down significantly. However men and women who actually tried out a “blind” date reported having a good time regardless of how attractive their date was. Once the photos were restored the same people went back to relying on looks to dictate whether or not they responded to messages, concluding that “people are exactly as shallow as their technology allows them to be.”

- Frustrated by your spouse’s spending habits? It might be why you married them, according to researchers (at Wharton School of Finance and Northwestern University). Surveys of married adults suggest that opposites attract when it comes to emotional reactions toward spending… The researchers found that people who generally spend less than they would ideally like to spend, and those who spend more than they would like to, tend to marry each other. That’s even though most single people say they would be happiest marrying someone with similar spending habits to their own.

- If you need to remember something, ask a little kid. The typical 5-year-old can beat most adults on a recognition memory test, at least under certain conditions. Why? Adults know too much. And all that knowledge decreases our ability to remember correctly (according to a study from Ohio State University). This is why you never promise or likely suggest something to a toddler!

- Employees got to work one Sunday morning at a Fort Myers, Fla., car dealership and observed that a vehicle in the lot had incurred damage. Fortunately, Modern Auto Sales has surveillance equipment. So when they played the video the last thing they expected to see was somebody falling from the sky, landing on one of the cars. But that’s what they saw. The young man had apparently dropped 20 feet from the business’ roof. The dealership’s owner thinks the man got up there with the dealership’s own ladder. It’s not clear whether he jumped intentionally. The video shows him picking himself up and walking away after the fall. The incident happened in the rain, and police say that means there aren’t any fingerprints, but they are investigating.

- A man walked into a Connecticut bank and calmly handed the teller a note that read, “Count out $1,200. Hand it to me. You are being robbed. Stay calm.” The teller did as she was told. When the thief left, the teller turned to her manager and told him that one of their regular customers had just robbed the place. It turned out that the guy went to that bank pretty much every day, and all the employees knew him, so it wasn’t hard for the police to track him down.
