- We all love a good hack BUT make sure it's legal.... According to a Facebook post from officials in Longmont, Colorado, working tail lights prevent accidents and are too important to leave broken. hat being said, the post did acknowledge the creativity employed by the driver who took a clear sports drink bottle filled with red liquid and used it as a temporary tail light. “If your tail lights are broken, please get them repaired,” the post finished.
- Ladies, if you're wondering why you're so tired all the time, it turns out there's a very good explanation for your constant yawning. New research has revealed that the average British woman misses out on three hours of sleep every night, as men blissfully doze away - which equates to roughly 1,095 hours lost each year. And said males are part of the reason why you're not getting enough shut eye, with a partner's snoring robbing many of their sleep, alongside other factors such as waking up to look after the kids.
- It’s not only students who are stressed about school: almost six in ten parents are so worried about their child that they’ve lost sleep in the back-to-school season. A survey of parents of school-aged children (aged 5–18) revealed that 57% find the back-to-school season to be the most stressful part of the year.
- An Indiana sheriff's office took a "bite out of crime" Monday when they caught a woman wearing a set of dentures "that clearly were not hers" at her own probation meeting. Earlier that day, someone reported that a woman, identified as Joann Childers, from Jennings County, stole her teeth and accused her of wearing them around. A probation officer who later met with Childers said she noticed she was wearing the set of pearly whites, which "may be the stolen teeth." On Wednesday, officials spoke to Childers about the alleged denture theft. The sheriff's office wrote on Facebook that while speaking with Childers, a deputy saw the dentures in "plain view" inside her home — and they were even reportedly labeled with the alleged victim's name on it.
- The National Weather Service in Nebraska demonstrated the effects of the brutal heat by trying to bake biscuits using nothing but a car and the sun. In a series of tweets on Thursday, the National Weather Service in Omaha and Valley posted updates on the biscuit experiment over the course of eight hours. The experiment was conducted as an excessive heat warning had been issued for much of eastern Nebraska through 7 p.m. on Saturday by the National Weather Service. The high in Omaha on Thursday was 92 degrees with a heat index of 103. The biscuit dough was placed on a cookie sheet inside an enclosed vehicle on Thursday morning along with a thermometer. The biscuits usually take about 14 to 17 minutes in 350-degree heat to bake. A tweet included a picture of the biscuits and included the caption, "45 minutes in. Biscuits are rising." About an hour after the initial tweet, they posted, "The pan has reached 175 degrees in 60 minutes and the tops of the biscuits are at 153." The last Tweet update said, "after nearly 8 hours in the sun, the outside of the biscuit is actually edible. The middle is still pretty doughy though. The max temp on the pan was 185!"
The take away: "This is a good time to remind everyone that your car does in fact get deadly hot. Look before you lock! On average, 38 children die in hot cars each year. Don't be a statistic!"
- National Hot Fudge Sundae Day
- National Thread The Needle Day
- DOG owners are being advised to check the pavement before they take their pooches out to avoid burnt paws during the heatwave. A simple test is to take your own shoes off and stand on the path. If you are unable to keep your feet on the path for five seconds, then it is not safe to walk your dog. Ona a related note: Cat owners should check greenhouses and conservatories before locking them in case their pet becomes trapped.

Looking back at the footage, the man soon found there was a very simple explanation for his poor sleep. It turned out that his cat had been coming into his room and sitting on his face while he was out like a light. https://twitter.com/stluis_htx/status/1153105125831061504
